What to Expect from Your First Life Coach Session in Denver
You’ve been thinking about making a change. You’ve scrolled through websites, maybe talked to friends, and now you're wondering how to choose the right life coach in Denver. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you're not alone. I’m here to help you feel a little more clear about your next steps—and whether I might be a good fit for you.
Let’s walk through what the process looks like when you reach out to me for life coaching.
Step One: Book a Free 15-Minute Consultation
Your journey starts with a simple, no-pressure phone or video call. When you book your free 15-minute consultation, I’ll send you a confirmation with the link or phone number, along with a reminder before we meet.
During the call, I’ll ask you to briefly share what you’re looking for support with—just a couple of sentences is fine. You can ask me questions too. I’ll explain how I work and what you can expect if we decide to move forward. If we’re a good match, we’ll schedule your first session.
What Happens in the First Life Coaching Session?
As a life coach in Denver specializing in recovery and relationships, I begin with a comprehensive intake session. We’ll talk through your family background, social support, physical health, and mental wellness. This usually takes one or two sessions and helps us create a clear picture of where you are now—and where you want to go.
How Long Before I Start Feeling Better?
This is a question I hear often. At the end of your intake, we’ll talk about your vision for the next 3 to 6 months. From there, we’ll set meaningful goals and identify small, realistic actions you can take each week.
Most people start to notice a shift after 2 to 3 months. But it’s important to know that healing isn’t always linear—you might feel some discomfort before you feel real momentum. That’s completely normal and part of the process.
How to Prepare for Your First Session
Once we schedule your first session, I’ll send you an email with a secure link to your client portal. You’ll complete a short intake packet before we meet.
You’ll also receive directions to my office, located conveniently in Cherry Creek North. We’ll meet in person unless you need to begin with online coaching.
Will I Have Homework?
Yes—but not the kind that weighs you down. After each session, we’ll decide together on small, doable goals you can focus on during the week. In my experience, clients who take those steps between sessions tend to see faster results and feel more confident.
When Will My Next Session Be?
I typically meet with clients weekly—on the same day and time each week. This rhythm helps create structure, stability, and momentum, so you can make consistent progress toward your goals.
What If I’m Not Sure It’s a Good Fit?
That’s a completely valid concern. At the beginning and end of each session, I check in to see how things are going. If something feels off, we’ll talk about it. Coaching should feel supportive and aligned with your values and goals.
If it turns out that I’m not the right life coach for you, I’m happy to help you find someone who is. We can wrap up with a final session and I’ll provide a referral to another trusted professional in Denver or online.

What happens after you schedule a consultation?
When you schedule your free 15 minute consultation, I will send you a confirmation and a reminder with a video link or phone number. At the time we connect, please be prepared to let me know in 2-3 sentences what you need help with. You can ask some questions. I will let you know how I work. If I’m the right life coach for you, we can schedule your first session.
What happens in the first session?
As a life coach specializing in relationships and recover, we do a comprehensive intake that covers your family, social, mental and physical health history in the first one or two sessions.
How long will it take to start noticing change and feeling better?
At the end of the intake we will talk about what you want your life to look like in the next three to six months. We collaborate on finding long-term goals and short-term actions you can take that week. It usually takes 2-3 months to start noticing change. You may feel worse at times before you feel better.
What do you need to do to prepare for the first session?
I’ll send you an email asking for additional information to link you to the patient portal. I’ll reply with a confirmation for our first session that has easy instructions on completing your client intake packet and give you directions to my workspace conveniently located in Cherry Creek North. Our first session will be in-person unless you need to start with online coaching right away.
Will I have homework?
We come up with goals that are divided into small steps you can take that week. I find people who do their homework progress faster in their healing.
When will I have my next session?
The next session will be the following week, at the same time on the same day. I work intensely with clients on a weekly basis which means they have noticeable improvement in a shorter time.
What if I don’t like what happened in the first session or I am not sure it is a good match?
I ask for feedback at the beginning or end of each new session. We can talk about your expectations and make a change. If you need to move on, we can do a final session to wrap up loose ends and I can give you a referral.
