Breaking the Myths: Hope and Healing with a Life Coach in Denver
Many people in Denver are silently battling addiction, weighed down by myths that keep them from seeking real help. If that’s you—or someone you love—you’re not alone.
Jesus reminds us, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life" (John 14:6). And in John 8:32, He says, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” That includes freedom from the grip of substance use. If you're holding onto your faith and the Word as recovery resources—you’re already on solid ground.
As a Life Coach in Denver who specializes in recovery, I want to help you take that truth and move toward a life that feels whole again. Let’s start by dismantling a few of the biggest myths that might be keeping you stuck.
1. Myth: “Recovery rates from substance abuse are discouraging.”
Truth: Recovery is more common than you think.
A study from the CDC and the National Institute on Drug Abuse found that 3 out of 4 people who experience addiction eventually recover. That’s a 75% success rate! You’re not broken or doomed—many people walk this path to healing and so can you.
2. Myth: “You have to go to detox, rehab, or a treatment center to stop.”
Truth: While those options are right for some, they’re not the only path.
In fact, only about 10% of people with substance use disorders receive specialty treatment, according to the U.S. Surgeon General. Many others find healing through coaching, counseling, community support, and their faith. If you’ve felt overwhelmed by the idea of treatment centers, know that you still have powerful options.
3. Myth: “Substance use is a disease, and only doctors and meds can fix it.”
Truth: That’s one perspective—but it’s not the only one.
While some find support through the medical model, others are empowered by the choice model—an approach that centers you as an active participant in your healing. This model is evidence-based and offers a more hopeful, empowering view of recovery.
4. Myth: “I can quit whenever I want.”
Truth: If quitting were that easy, you probably wouldn’t be reading this right now.
Saying you can quit "whenever you want" can feel like taking back control—but often it’s a way to stay stuck. Isolation and secrecy are common companions of addiction. Community and support are what truly help. Whether it’s through a 12-step group, a faith-based support circle, or working with a life coach in Denver who understands addiction and healing—you don’t have to do this alone.
If privacy is something you value, that’s okay too. Working one-on-one with a coach or counselor can offer the space to process without shame while still receiving support.
You Don’t Have to Keep Struggling Alone
There’s nothing weak about asking for help—especially when it’s grounded in truth and love. Whether you're just starting to question your relationship with substances or you're years into your recovery journey, I’d be honored to walk with you.
As a life coach in Denver, I help people like you reconnect with their values, rediscover their strength, and rebuild their lives with clarity and purpose. Recovery is possible—and it starts by breaking free from the myths.
